How Flooring Shipping Works: What to Expect When Ordering from McMillan Floors

When ordering new flooring, timing matters just as much as style. Whether you’re planning a remodel or coordinating with installers, understanding how flooring shipping works can help you plan your project with confidence. At McMillan Floors, we prioritize reliable delivery so your materials arrive on time and in excellent condition.

In this guide, we explain what to expect from the shipping process, how long delivery typically takes, and how to prepare for your flooring arrival.

How Long Does Flooring Shipping Take?

Most McMillan Floors orders ship within 3–7 business days, depending of where you are in the contiguous United States or Canada. This timeframe applies to all of our products such as laminate flooring, engineered hardwood, and spc/luxury vinyl flooring, depending on availability and destination.

Once your order ships, tracking information is provided so you can monitor delivery progress.

How Flooring Is Shipped

Flooring is shipped in protective cartons designed to prevent damage during transit. Because flooring products are heavy and durable, they are typically delivered via freight or ground shipping, not standard parcel services.

Most deliveries are curbside, meaning materials are unloaded at the end of your driveway or nearest accessible location. Customers should plan ahead for moving materials indoors upon arrival.

Preparing for Your Flooring Delivery

Before your order arrives:

  • Ensure someone is available to receive the shipment

  • Inspect boxes upon delivery for visible damage, if you see visual damages please make sure to sign the bill of lading as the product is getting delivered by the carrier so we can make the shipping company accountable for any damages.

  • Store flooring indoors in a dry, climate-controlled space

If you’re installing laminate, vinyl or engineered hardwood, proper storage helps prepare the material for acclimation before installation.

You can explore installation resources and manuals in our Installation Guides section to plan next steps once your flooring arrives.

Why Shipping Timing Matters for Flooring Projects

Accurate shipping expectations help avoid delays, especially when coordinating installers or renovation schedules. Knowing that flooring typically arrives within 3–7 business days allows you to plan acclimation time and installation dates more efficiently.
